Elk, Deer Pronghorn, and Raptors | AWWE-Some Summer Series 2019

  • Sunflower Flat Wildlife Area (map)

Meet at the Arizona Game and Fish Department Office on Lake Mary Road at 4:45pm. We’ll carpool approximately 30 miles to the Arizona Game and Fish Commission owned Sunflower Flat Wildlife Area south of Williams.

At this beautiful wooded area, with extensive wetlands during years of at least average precipitation, we’ll hopefully observe numerous waterfowl at one of the ponds or wet meadows. In addition there’s a very good opportunity to see pronghorn, mule deer, elk and perhaps even javelina.

There are no amenities present so bring water, dress in layers, sturdy footwear if you chose to walk around a bit and of course cameras, binoculars or spotting scope with tripod. We will have some scopes and binos available for use. We should return to Flagstaff by about 8:00pm.
